September 2009 Obituaries RONALD WAYNE LEMONDS, JR. Ronald Wayne Lemonds, Jr., 33, of Romney, WV, died September 6, 2009 in Romney, WV. He was born on August 20, 1976 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Ronald Wayne Lemonds, Sr. of McCalla, Alabama and Abby Joy (Slaughter) Corbin of Romney, WV. Ronnie was an avid hunter. He loved floating the river, traveling to Mt. Storm, Sunday softball, bowling on Mondays and playing pool. He could play the piano and sing beautifully. Ronnie loved to play for everyone during the holidays. Whatever Ronnie could do that involved his family is what he enjoyed most. In addition to his parents, Ronnie is survived by: his stepfather, Jody Corbin, Romney, WV; stepmother, Kay Lemonds, McCalla, AL; maternal Grandparents: Mr. And Mrs. Millard “Shine” Slaughter, Calera, AL; Paternal Grandparents: Mr. & Mrs. Bob Groves, Romney, WV; paternal Great Grandmother: Mrs. Marie Bucy, Romney, WV; Fiancé: Amanda Pearl Hansen, Romney, WV; three sons: Lucas James Lemonds, Logan Scott Lemonds, and Alex Wayne Lemonds all of Romney, WV; two daughters: Skylor Jade Lemonds and Rebekah Louise Robinson both of Romney, WV; five brothers: Jacob Corbin, Issac Corbin, Joseph Corbin, Joshua Corbin all of Romney and Neal Lemonds of Alabama; two sisters: Shannon Lemonds Black and Jennifer Lemonds both of Alabama; and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family received friends on Thursday, September 10 from 6-8 pm at the Shaffer Funeral Home. A Service of Rembrance was held that same evening at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Tom Gulbronson officiating. SHIRLEY M. WOLFORD Shirley M. Wolford, 69, of Romney, WV, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at WMHS – Memorial Campus, Cumberland, MD. Mrs. Wolford was born in Springfield, WV on May 16, 1940, the daughter of the late Clark and Susie (Haines) Frazier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R. Wolford and one sister, Pauline Shockey. Mrs. Wolford is survived by: one sister: Eva Shockey, Romney, WV and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Norman Landis officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, WV
CARL WILLIAM DORSEY Carl William Dorsey, 92, of Springfield, WV died Sunday, September 6, 2009. He was born on January 10, 1917 in Okonoka, WV, the son of the late William Dallas Dorsey and Annie Eliza (Schooley) Dorsey. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances (Stickley) Dorsey;one son ; Carl F. Dorsey; one son-in-law, Bill Horn; two brothers, Irvin and Eugene Dorsey; and three sisters, Goldie Daugherty, Eliza Brown, and Mary Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey was a farmer and self made/taught Veterinarian who would help anyone in need. He drove a school bus for 20 years at Levels and Springfield, WV until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Springfield Ruritans and a member of the Springfield WV Rescue Squad. He is survived by: Four daughters; Beverly Horn, Phyllis and Roger Malone, and Donna and Ray Steward of Springfield, WV and Gale and James Wichael, Moorefield, WV and one daughter-in-law, Patsy McBride Dorsey of Roanoke, IN.; grandchildren: Carol Raines, Linda Bogner, Kelly Horn, William “Bubby” Horn, Jr., Kandi Barnard, Neal Steward, Stacey Nestor, Kim Cruse, Carl Malone, Terry Malone, Tara Wichael and Jarod Wichael; Great-Grandchildren: Courtney Dorsey, Austin Clapper, Brandon Clapper, Brian Bogner, Heather Chaney, Shaun Blackburn, Aaron Blackburn, Ashlee Blackburn, Brandon Horn, Emily Horn, Mandara Whiteman, Chae Whiteman, Michael Shayne Armentrout, Breanna Nestor, Lesley Nestor, Benjamin Nestor and Castanea Steward; Great-Great-Grandchildren: Josephine Dorsey, Savannah Dorsey, Taya Moreland, Jade Blackburn, Logan Grosnickle, Gunner Titas, Shaun Blackburn, Shalee Blackburn and Carly Blackburn. The family will receive friends at Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, WV on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Springfield Presbyterian Church, Springfield, WV with Rev. Linda M. Reece officiating. Interment will be at Levels Cemetery, Levels, WV. Memorials may be made to: Springfield Rescue Squad.
