230 East maiN STREETMarch 2009 Obituaries ANNE THERESA SANSBURY Anne Theresa Sansbury, 80, of Levels, West Virginia, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA. Mrs. Sansbury was born on September 25, 1928 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Charles G. and Flora E. (Kling) Kurz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond John Anderson; one son, John R. Anderson; one brother, Fred Kurz; and one sister, Flora Schuck. Mrs. Sansbury retired after 20 years of service as deli clerk for Safeway in Rockville, MD. In 1991 she moved to Levels, WV. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Romney. Mrs. Sansbury volunteered at the John J. Cornwell Elementary School, Points, WV for 15 years. Mrs. Sansbury is survived by: one Son, Charles P. Anderson, Levels, WV; three Daughters: Judith M. Anderson, Rhoadesville, VA, Linda Marie Auth, Rhoadesville, VA, Maryanne Royal, Levels, WV; one Sister: Mary Anstead, Rockville, MD; 14 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandson. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Shaffer Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. At Our Lady of Grace Catholic, School Street, Romney. With Father William J. Kuchinsky officiating. Interment will be in Levels Cemetery, Levels, WV MARY ELLEN SIMPSON Mary Ellen Simpson, 58 of Romney, WV died Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney, WV. Mrs. Simpson was born on February 15, 1951 in Romney, WV, the daughter of the late Burl and Mabel (Kile) Charlton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Hippie” Terry Simpson, July 18, 1996 and her infant brother. Mary Ellen was a member of the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren, a member of the LOOM # 1371 , the VFW Wappocoma Post 1101, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hampshire Post 91, all of Romney. She is survived by: one Son: James “Jamie” Zachary Simpson, Romney, WV; two Daughters: Cheryl “Cheri” Ward and husband, Jeff, Augusta, WV and Sheila Keister and husband, Steve, Romney, WV; Special Friend: Dennis “Dink” Keckley, Romney, WV; one Brother: Pastor Burl “Cork” Charlton and wife, Donna, Kirby, WV; one Sister: Jo Ann Judy and husband, Randy, Chester, VA; a very special cousin: Evelyn McCabe and husband, John, Augusta, WV; four Grandsons: Nicholas Ward, Dalton and Hunter Keister, and Adon Simpson; one Granddaughter: Ashley Ward and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, with Pastor John Ward officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, WV |
